Tolerance means to bear with what is unfamiliar, even
foreign and it means to be willing to question our own ideas and ideologies.
Religions in their claims on truth tend to have difficulties being tolerant of
others. Tolerance is neither passive nor the path of least resistance, but
demands active encounters with the other and our own views. How much tolerance
can we muster in our daily lives with neighbours, friends and strangers - and
which prejudices secret or open obstruct us.
The conference on tolerance will be in German. If you are
interested, please contact me via e-mail: hahn@eaberlin.de.
We would be happy if you shared your thoughts and comments with us before the conference, even if you don't plan on attending the conference yourself.
