Bible Dialogues in English on gender roles in church and society

There will two Bible Dialogues in English this fall: first an online-meeting on "Women’s Perspectives on Prophesy and Ecology" (September 17) and then a conference at the Protestant Convent at Heiligengrabe, a former Cistercians Abbey near Berlin, where we will exchange our thoughts on the role of education in women’s lives (October 3-5). 

Churches share the vision that all human kind are children of God, indeed: created in God’s image. So really, Churches have great potential for making our world a place where all can live in peace and justice. But are they living up to this? Are they vocal enough to that end or have they succumbed to a world that rather fosters injustice and destruction? Are they letting a good portion of human kind behind? 

This week my blog will be in English and about these two events as part of our series on gender roles in church and society. As we here in Germany are obviously not going to solve the world`s problems alone, so I look forward to hopefully many participants from all over Europe and beyond. 

Why is this an important topic for us at the Protestant Academy Berlin? I guess, because, on this, we share the views that Jāna Jēruma-Grīnberga in Riga expressed in an interview – which I will post tomorrow.
