man sinnvollerweise Taschen, Geld und Handy, also alles, was uns sonst so
On Sunday we said Goodbye at our theological seminar for volunteers. We were a diverse group of people, several of the participants were (lay) volunteers in pastoral care, f.e. in institutions for people with handicaps and in hospices. Healing, becoming whole and the words for salvation, in German these words are very closely related, so it was a good thing; that I did not have to translate our discussions. in our Bible studies we talked not just about the healing miracles of Jesus, but also about the circumstances and intentions of the 4 gospels in regard to these passages. Some put an emphasis on the faith of the person in need of healing and/or salvation, others point to the greatness and holiness of God's acts through Jesus. Different interpretations due to different intentions of the authors of the gospels are to me an encouragement to find an interpretation for our time and age today.
Instead of our traditional excursion we visited a Jesuit flat which serves as a very unbureaucratic place for all who knock and need shelter. ... and in a way healing from life on the streets. that the streets hold their own potential for healing moments, we could experience in our walk through the streets of Kreuzberg alone and in silence, taking in the sounds and visions of a busy city or even, in my case, solitude and calm in the very heart of a hectic district. These walks are part of the retreats in the streets, and it was a special treat to meet Christian Herwartz, the Jesuit priest who founded both the shelter and the retreats in the streets.
