Alles beginnt mit der Sehnsucht - It all begins with longing

Am kommenden Sonntag beginnt der Bibeldialog zum Thema Sehnsucht, für den wir den Titel dieses Gedichtes gewählt haben:

Alles beginnt mit der Sehnsucht,

immer ist im Herzen Raum für mehr,

für Schöneres, für Größeres.

Das ist des Menschen Größe und Not:

Sehnsucht nach Stille,

nach Freundschaft und Liebe.

Und wo Sehnsucht sich erfüllt,

dort bricht sie noch stärker auf.

Fing nicht auch deine Menschwerdung, Gott,

mit dieser Sehnsucht nach dem Menschen an ?

So lass nun unsere Sehnsucht damit anfangen,

dich zu suchen,

und lass sie damit enden,

dich gefunden zu haben. (Nelly Sachs)

So soll auch unsere Tagung sein: sehnsüchtig und suchend. Nach Stille, Freundschaft, nach uns selbst, nach so Vielem,  und hinter allem doch immer wieder nach Gott.

It all begins with longing,
There is room in every heart for more,
For beauty and for grandness.
This is mankind’s greatness and distress:
Longing for calm,
For friendship and love.
Where desire comes true
It breaks out even stronger.

Did not your incarnation begin, God,
with this longing for human kind?

This is the poem that gave the title to our next bible dialogue starting Sunday. We will seek for this calm, for friendship, for ourselves, and so many things, but behind it all is our longing for God.
