Aus Gottes Frieden leben --- Living By the Peace of God

(* please scroll down for English text) Ich bin spät dran, denn es war viel los.

* I am a little late, because a lot of things happened. Since our Bible Dialogue “Living in the peace of God ... in the world’s conflicts” ended, I have already travelled to Latvia and to Estonia to prepare two coming Bible conferences. But our Bible Dialogue on Peace was no less international. There were 25 participants from Germany, Russia, Ukraine and the Czech Republic. There are so many songs of peace and in our singing we expressed our yearning for peace. What was interesting were besides the Bible studies the Pankow Peace Circle (Pankower Friedenskreis) of the late GDR, that Ruth Misselwitz, one of the founders, introduced to us. Some Bible passages made us think or felt like a provocation. Was Jesus really saying he’d bring the sword and not peace? (Matthew 10,34) Maybe it was not meant to be a sword of cold metal, but rather the tool we should use to make peace amongst us here on earth, and this tool is the word of God, a sword that means to convince not oppress, that doesn’t kill but instead brings life.
