Silence is golden? EBD 06

Today another European Bible Dialogue ended. It was a small group, only 12 participants from Germany, Latvia and Lithuania, but maybe the small number accounts for the intensive work and the warm and familiar atmosphere. The particpants came from various occupations and activities - but all had in common that they care for other people: people who are sick, or disabled or just old and helpless. Situations when a person shares his or her pain and worries confidentially can be a burden. To decide when to speak and when to remain silent is often hard. The conference tried to give some orientation - in terms of ethics - and support - by allowing time to speak and time to sit in silence.
