The Bible words and sermon in our worship yesterday at the Bible Dialogue for relatives of people with disabilities were a perfect conclusion to the conference. Our topic was violence, aggression and conflict and we had a very wide approach. Too wide? I was a little concerned how we would manage the bridge from the Biblical Abraham, via the T4-programme in Nazi-Germany (which was meant to “legally” murder people with disabilities) all the way to practical instructions on how to deal with aggression in people with mental disabilities. How would “healing singing” and a trip to the International Garden Exhibition fit in? Thanks to a wonderful team and equally wonderful group of participants from Germany, the Netherlands and the Czech Republic it all came together and made sense. The intensive and open talks with each other are maybe the most important reason why many are coming back to the conference and sometimes with someone new coming along.
Next year, we will look at the topic GRATITUDE and I am indeed grateful already.
