Einzigartiger Gott - Einzigartiger Mensch

Gestern  Nachmittag hat der erste Live-Bibeldialog seit Beginn der Corona-Zeit begonnen. EINZIGARTIG heißt das Thema, wie einzigartig diese Tagung werden würde, war uns letztes Jahr natürlich nicht bewusst. Vieles ist ungewohnt, das Abstand halten, der Mund-und-Nasen-Schutz, nicht singen dürfen… Trotz allen entstand schnell wieder ein Gefühl von Gemeinschaft, einer Nähe, die nichts mit Zentimetern zu tun hat. Trotz der großen Hitze folgten wir aufmerksam dem ersten Vortrag, der ganz schön lang war, aber für einen Überblick über die sich wandelnden Gottesbilder im Alten und Neuen Testament dann doch nicht zu lang. „Weißt du, wieviel Sternlein stehen…“ ist nur dem ersten Anschein ein liebes Kindelied, tatsächlich steckt darin viel theologische Erkenntnis: dass wir und mit uns jeder Mensch von Gott gewollt und angenommen und geliebt ist, dass auch die gesamte Schöpfung, ob Menschenkind oder Mücke, bei Gott ihren Sinn hat. Dass nur Gott es vermag mit jedem einzelnen von uns in Beziehung zu stehen. Dass manches an Gottes Wegen und Hand uns verborgen und rätselhaft bleibt, weil Gott keine Maschine ist, die auf unsere Befehle vorhersagbar reagiert. Das macht demütig und zugleich hoffnungsvoll.

Today we began the first live Bible dialogue since Corona came over us. EINZIGARTIG / UNIQUE is our topic and when we chose this, little did we know just how unique our conference would be. Much is unfamiliar and needs getting used to: keeping distance and wearing masks to cover mouth and nose, not being able to sing indoors… despite it being a very hot day, we listened attentively to our first lecture, which was pretty long, but, considering that we got an overview of the changing images of God that people shared in the Old and the New Testament, it was actually quite short. One hymn which is often considered a sweet little song for children „Weißt du, wieviel Sternlein stehen… /Do you know how many stars…“ is actually rich with theological insight: that we and with us every human being is wanted and accepted by God. That all creation from any human child to tiniest insect has relevance. That only God can have a relationship with every single one of us. That much of God’s ways and action will always be a mystery to us because God is not a machine we can programme to act as expected and on demand. God is not predictable. That may humble us, but it also gives hope.
