MIRACLES AND LAWS - WUNDER UND GESETZE

Heute geht die Theologische Studientagung los, in der wir uns mit der Freiheit und den Grenzen der Interpretation biblischer Texte beschäftigen werden. Kann man denn die Wundergeschichten in der Bibel anders als bildlich verstehen? Was aber ist mit den Geboten? Sind die so eindeutig, dass sie keiner Interpretation bedürfen?
Insgesamt sind wir nun doch 28 geworden - mit dem Team und der Referentin. Es wird mit Sicherheit sehr spannend, denn die Unterschiede in den Kirchen, auch wenn sie zur Gemeinschaft Evangelischer Kirchen in Europa gehören, sind ja durchaus beträchtlich. Aber auch katholische und orthodoxe Studierende werden dabei sein. Vielfalt kann ein großer Schatz sein und uns davon abhalten, uns unsere Bibel in die Tasche zu interpretieren, so wie es uns gerade angenehm ist. Je mehr "Wahrheiten" wir miteinander teilen und annehmen können, je mehr "Wahrheiten" wir auch hinterfragen und kritisch betrachten, um so näher kommen wir vielleicht der Wahrheit.
Today we begin our theological study conference which will deal with the freedom and limits of interpretation of Biblical texts. Can one even take the miracle stories  in the Bible literally? But what about the commandments, are they so clear that they require no interpretation?
We are happy that the group now consists of 28 people, including the team and our guest speaker. All in all 10 different countries are represented. Besides those from churches of the Community of Protestant Churches in Europe, there are also Orthodox and Catholic students and twoo studetns from Africa. Can we take the differences in our theological approaches as the wealth of diversity that may prevent us from interpreting the Bible as it seems convenient? Maybe the more "truths" we hear and accept, and the more "truths" we question and scrutinize, the closer we get to the TRUTH?
