Ein Blick zurück / Looking back: Bible Dialogues 2020 – I

So vieles war anders als geplant. Ein Bibeldialog im Februar endete mit Sturmwarnung und mehr als die Hälfte der Teilnehmenden und fast das ganze Leitungsteam reisten vorzeitig ab. Tomas aus Tschechien blieb als einziger (und büßte für die gute Tat, indem er es fast nicht mehr zurück nach Prag schaffte). Dennoch war es der letzte „normale“ Europäische Bibeldialog in diesem Jahr. Mit einem knappen Dutzend Teilnehmer*innen improvisierten wir den Rest der Tagung und erlebten trotz allem eine gute Gemeinschaft. Manche mussten dann wegen des Sturms ein paar Tage länger in Berlin bleiben, weil die Bahnen nicht mehr fuhren. Wenn ich an die folgenden Monate denke, dann war der stürmische Bibeldialog auch Inspiration. Wir hatten alle etwas anderes geplant, aber mit Wohlwollen und Improvisationstalent – und Segen – wurde es am Ende doch gut. Alle Heimgereisten kamen noch sicher an und anstelle des geplanten selbstgestalteten Gottesdienstes folgten wir der Einladung einer Berliner Baptistengemeinde – eine wunderbare Erfahrung ökumenischer Geschwisterlichkeit.

*** So much was planned and happened in a different way this year. One Bible Dialogue in February ended with a storm warning and more than half of participants and most of the conference team left early and in a rush, because train cancellations were announced. Only Tomas of the team stayed (and paid for the good deed by almost not making it home to Prague). Still, that was the last “normal” European Bible Dialogue this year. We improvised with fewer than a dozen participants and experienced a wonderful community. Some of the “remainers” had to stay a few days longer in Berlin because trains really did not run. When I think of the months that followed, this stormy Bible Dialogue appears to be an inspiration. We had planned something else, but with good will and improvisation – and blessing – it all turned out good in the end. All those who left, arrived safely at their destinations and we in Berlin worshipped – not as planned in our own service – but as welcome guests in a Berlin Baptist congregation – a wonderful experience of ecumenical togetherness as brothers and sisters.
